For the Love of a Pet – Dog Lover’s Gift Basket

For the Love of a Pet – Dog Lover’s Gift Basket

There is a quote that says basically you can tell a lot about people by the respect they show animals. This is very true. Someone who is kind and patient and loving toward animals, or have a pet typically will be loving kind and compassionate with others in their lives. Yes, there are ‘cat’ people and then there are ‘dog’ people, sometime a person is both, they just adore animals in any form and have both kinds of pets. Those who have dogs know they are a bigger commitment with time, energy and patience. They need their owners to take care of all their basic needs, including walks, exercise and getting fed. Many times a dog can assume the role of a family member. With their constant presence you can’t help but factor them into your plans for a day.

These people who take pride in making sure their pets are happy and healthy are the kind of people who would enjoy seeing special gifts for their pets as well. It could be a comfy new bed, their own personal blanket or a collection of items assembled in a dog lovers’ gift basket.

These gift baskets make a wonderful idea as a gift that can be considered for the entire family. There can be snack items and novelties for the owners as well as a yummy collection of gourmet dog treats for you beloved pet. It could be for a milestone in the pet’s life. Recovering from surgery or a health problem, or some people celebrate their pets birthdays. One person used this gift basket idea after being a house guests for a few days, they wanted to say thank you to everyone but with a special bond formed with the loving golden retriever then felt that a symbol of thanks that centered on the dog would be very appropriate. While the pooch was munching down on the mega bite peanut bone, the owners were sipping tea from their perky pup mug and tasting one of the assorted Ghirardelli chocolates.

For the love of their dog, and all they give to their pet, a gift that extends the same love and respect will be welcomed and appreciated for sure. The owners mission it to make their four legged family member comfortable, loved, happy and to be in good health. A gesture like a dog lovers gift basket will be right up their alley!

Benefits of Playing Dog Games at the Office

Are you a dog lover? If you are, then you know better than anyone that our furry canine friends make it easy to love them. In fact, many people who own a dog treat them like just another family member.

And why not?

They love you unconditionally. They don’t require constant attention (though they certainly appreciate it). They are the best animals for you and your children (if you have any). And for all the single people – well, they are a great way of meeting Mister or Miss Right with a simple stroll in the park.

For all you dog lovers out there, who find yourself chained to a computer at work all day, playing free dog games online is a great way to indulge your affection for these animals while also passing the downtime. Here are four benefits of playing free dog games at the office:

Test your response time. Playing free dog games at the office can actually help improve your response time. Part of this comes from the fast-paced challenge of games such as Dog Police, which require you to maneuver through traffic in an effort to catch the Dog Catcher and release the doggies before they end up at the pound. And, of course, part of it comes from fear of getting spotted by your boss or the office snitch.

Think quickly. Free dog games such as I Lost My Puppy! require you to think quickly when it comes to meeting the objective of the game, which in this case is to click the right dog that matches your missing pet picture. It is not as easy as it sounds when you have only 20 seconds to do so, a wide selection of mutts that confuse the selection, and the ever-present fear of being noticed on a free dog games website. The good news, however, and one that your boss doesn’t want to admit, is that the mere act of challenging your mind to think fast and make wise decisions in the confines of the game, will lead to you doing the same on the job.

Give yourself something to look forward to. Every job has those chores you just don’t want to do. One of the best ways of actually getting you to do them – and do them well – is to break up your day with periods of downtime where you allow your mind to indulge in the things that interest you instead of the things you have to do. Consider it refilling the tank. Just try to avoid letting your boss or that pesky office snitch mentioned above ever find out about it.

Be close to your pets even when you are putting in a full day at the office. While Fido is waiting on you to get home, you can, by playing free dog games online, keep him in your thoughts and stoke the excitement of getting home to him when the time comes to go home.

Playing free dog games online is clearly a great way for pet lovers and game lovers to pass the time at work. But they can also make you more productive. Just try them and you will see. Before long, you will be a more active and responsible worker, and your boss will never know the difference!

Are You A Dog Lover? I Became One

Are You A Dog Lover? I Became One

At that time they were pet dogs in the yard; even though I helped to feed them that was all they were to me then.  Little did I know that those experiences were building blocks to what I have become, a dog lover.

If my memory serves me correctly, I did not start out being a dog lover. I never really petted a dog because I didn’t really care for dogs or anything doggy. I remember I was still a little girl living in the Islands and we always had a lot of animals and pets.  The “pets” consisted of dogs and cats. The animals on the other hand were numerous.  All of the dogs were outdoor pets, because in the Islands it was absolutely un-heard of for dogs to be in the house, but the cats however were in and out.

We had quite a number of dogs all living in the “yard” together and they were an interesting study. They were what you call in the United States “mutts” mix breeds what we term in the Islands as “pot hounds,” meaning they were mixed up breeds who love to eat and our dogs ate very well; and they knew the sound of the pots when anyone was cooking.  They would be waiting to hear the special tap on their bowls and they came running.

My grandparents, aunts and uncles always seem to know the secrets to train our dogs and somehow get them to be obedient dogs even if they displaying aggressive behavior. Their loving and sometimes firm commands for the dogs to come, sit, stay or fetch were amazing to watch and learn.

I distinctly remember “Brownie” and Jerry and as little girls we seem to know everything about our pets, because we made them a daily study.  In the span of time that I was growing up I lived in that particular location till I was nine and our dogs on several occasions had puppies and that was a special treat. Sometimes our neighbor’s dogs would venture over into our yard and before we knew it, there would be another litter of puppies.

When we saw the dogs moving slowly even as children we knew, we would be getting another set of pups.  With so many dogs in the yard there were so many personalities and there were times when the dogs’ behavior would be different.  Depending on the mood of the dog, they would be obedient and come when you called them and sit and stay or fetch when they felt like it or if the dogs were pregnant they would tend to be more aggressive.

My family were known and liked in the neighborhood and everyone lived as one, so our dogs were also well known and every litter of puppies always got great homes with the friends and family in the area. I distinctly remember after some of the litters were born the neighbors came by to make their pick. It was interesting to see all the different variations and colors and personalities of our new puppies.

Even though we love our dogs sometimes they do not always display loveable behavior. If your dog is displaying any type of unacceptable behavior or pulling on the leash, you can find out how to train your dog and get help for your pet.

If you would like to find out how to train your dog or get help for unacceptable behavior please see the link below.

I am Nelsa Leslie I grew up in the Islands. My family had quite a number of dogs and animals, so I enjoy writing about dogs.

These Dog Lovers Are Really Hot!

These Dog Lovers Are Really Hot!

So says Derek Collinson, founder of the leading dog lovers dating site www.doglover.biz when referring to his members. “You know I didn’t realise how hot our dog lover members were until last week when we decided to use a standard format for their pictures and that meant re-processing every single member’s picture. Wow was I surprised to see how gorgeous the women were and the guys were really hot too. And their cute little and not so little pooches were just so adorable I could see that some members might be tempted to date other members just so they could take their dog for a walk!”

Now he encourages all members of his pet dating service who have not added a picture to their profile to do so now and show the world just how fantastic they look! And for even better results he is recommending that all members add a video clip as well!

“Can you imagine the difference it makes to the number of people that look at your profile when you add a picture or video? It’s estimated that you can expect twenty times more contacts by adding a picture of yourself and with a video the sky’s the limit! If one picture is worth a thousand words you could say a video is worth at least a million!”

The phenomenal success of You Tube (now the 2nd most popular website in the world) is evidence of the popularity of video in today’s society.
For online dating, a video goes way beyond photographs in getting to know someone. It allows people to see someone’s personality and hear their voice. Watching someone on video can save a lot of awkward hour long coffee meetings with people who seem like a different breed or are just doggone crazy!

At the moment trying to find dating site members with video profiles is like trying to find gold dust – they are virtually non existent even on the big mainstream dating sites! This means for the ones that have added them to their profile the response can be phenomenal!

And nowadays it’s easy to add a video to their profile. They can either get a friend to take a video clip of them using a mobile phone or digital camera with this feature (most) or alternatively they can use a webcam. They can then save the video clip on their computer and upload it to their profile in avi or mpeg file format.

Doglover.biz members can easily upload an avi or mpeg file – roughly a 3MB file is two or three minutes long and that’s more than enough to introduce themself, tell people what they’re interested in and invite interested members to contact them.

And to make sure they come across really well we recommend preparing a script and rehearse using a digital camera, mobile phone, webcam or friends before the “final take” and uploading to their dating profile.

Although doglover.biz members can easily add videos to their profiles themselves for those that don’t want to or can’t we will add it free of charge. All they have to do is send us an email with their video file attached to support©doglover.biz and we will take care of it!

And for a dog lover looking for a like minded person to date, video offers a fantastic opportunity to introduce their dog as well as themselves. Since all our members are dog lovers they are bound to appreciate watching fido and the interaction between dog and owner – especially since that’s a sure fire way to gauge the temperament of the owner as well as the dog!

So for dog lovers and indeed anyone else who’d like to dramatically increase their dating site contacts and would rather spend hour long coffee meetings with people they like the answer is simple – they need to become the star of their own show by adding a video to their dating profile!

German Shepherd Dog Lover ? Are You One?

German Shepherd Dog Lover ? Are You One?

In the Islands the German shepherd is still called an Alsatian and is one of the most respected dogs in the country to this day. Since becoming a dog lover I like to talk about German shepherds and how I acquired the little love of my life.

Even though I have had a long history with dogs I did not become a real dog lover and owner until recently. Although I was always impressed by how smart police dogs were I never thought in my wildest dreams I would own a German shepherd.

Click HERE for ways to train your German Shepherd dog.

What impressive dogs the German shepherds are; a highly intelligent, strong, loyal dog that looks nice, or is a nice looking dog. Most often employed by the military and police for search and rescue missions, they are known for being the best bred dogs for working. Some of their great characteristics are that they are extremely loyal towards their owners and people they are familiar with even children but they also can become very much attached and show aggression towards people they do not know.

These dogs are known to have two coats, the bottom or undercoat is made up of short hairs that are not shed often, while the outer or top coat sheds constantly to shows the short or medium hairs, with the long hairs being less common.

I acquired my German shepherd at work one day when one of the young men I worked with mentioned to a group of ladies that his neighbor’s dog and her two, two-month old puppies jumped into his pool. He said that his neighbor did not really want to keep the puppies because someone else’s dog mated their dog unknown to them and they did not need too many dogs, so they wanted to give them away.

Needless to say the pups were to be given away and all the ladies were excited inquiring as to what type of pups they were. Since ladies seem to prefer smaller breed dogs he was calling out smaller dog breed names and seemingly the two dogs had found new owners among the staff.

The young man agreed to bring the pups in to work to their new owners as there were two dogs to be given away. When the ladies saw that the dogs were not the smaller breed dogs they were expecting excitement and interest disappeared because instead these pups were German shepherd mix. German Shepherds are large-breed dogs that are generally between 22 and 26 inches long, and their ideal height is 25 inches. Those ladies did not want the big type dogs because these dogs weigh between 49 and 95 pounds. One dog ended up getting an owner from the ladies who had promised to take them. The other pup was in a box waiting, hoping someone would want to take her home.

After coming out of a meeting the night in question that the young man brought the dogs, I saw him standing in the lobby looking bewildered with a box containing the one remaining dog. When I inquired as to why he was still at work he said he did not know what to do with the pup no one wanted and he did not want to take it back home to his neighbor because the dog would be given to an animal shelter.

I was still not an actual “dog lover” but I agreed to take the frightened little German shepherd pup home to my two sons. My boys had been asking for a dog for years but I never wanted to get one until they were old enough and would be responsible for taking care of it.

When I called and told my boys I was bringing a puppy home they dismissed the thought quickly because they never believed I would bring a dog into the house. Remember, as an Islander we never bring dogs inside the house, but that nigh I did. No sooner I arrived at the house with the little frightened puppy, my sons promptly took her and lovingly gave her a bath.

We named our little shepherd mix Nahla who is now going on seven months. The boys are doing very well training the dog. She has a great temperament for our family and she is a sweet, loving dog.

True Dog Lovers Are Happy To Go Anywhere to Find True Love

According to the results of a poll carried out by the leading dog lovers dating site www.doglover.biz 72.73% of its members who voted would travel to the ends of the earth to find love. Of the remainder 9.09% would travel anywhere within their own country, 9.09% within their own state and 9.09% would stick to their home town.

Derek Collinson, who founded www.doglover.biz 4 years ago, believes that this shows that his dog lover members are very romantic. He also believes that www.doglover.biz is a better choice for dog lovers seeking soul mates than one of the big mainstream online dating sites.

He added “Ok I know that the big mainstream dating sites have a million members or more and we have thousands but it doesn’t follow that a dog lover will stand a better chance of finding a dog loving soul mate on one of the big dating sites.

Trying to find a dog lover, especially a male dog lover, on one of the big dating sites can be very difficult. It’s hard enough finding a woman who mentions she loves dogs on one of those sites. And many men are reluctant to admit they love dogs because they think this admission makes them appear effeminate.

Since the majority of true dog lovers will not date someone who isn’t a dog lover then really they stand a much better chance of finding a dog loving soul mate on our dating site since all our members are dog lovers.

True, they may not find their dog lover soul mate in their own home town, but since our poll shows that the vast majority will travel to the ends of the earth to find love then really that doesn’t matter.

In any case there is an excellent chance they will find someone in their own country and a good chance of finding someone in their own state.”

Usually the process involved in getting to know someone on www.doglover.biz is firstly a flirt to let someone know they are interested in them. This takes the form of a short standard message designed to break the ice and find out if their feelings are reciprocated. Members can choose the message they like ranging from the romantic to the humorous. If the recipient responds positively then emails are exchanged and after that usually telephone conversations take place.

Online dating is a great way to get to know someone because each party can control the pace and decide when the time is right to make telephone contact and finally arrange the first meeting – usually a coffee somewhere.

If the distances are great – for example the two people live in different countries then the process may be different. Longer telephone conversations usually take place and it is possible to get to know someone very well in this way so that when it comes to arranging the first meeting there will be a good chance of success.

Nowadays this needn’t cost the earth and in fact by using Skype on mobile phones or computers this is likely to be free.

In addition Webcams can give a great insight into what the real person sounds and looks like so if there is a strong attraction using this medium then it’s likely there will be a strong attraction face to face in the real world too!

Karen Sunde, the respected American playwright and screenwriter said “to love is to receive a glimpse of heaven” and perhaps that’s why, more than anything else, our members are prepared to travel to the ends of the earth to find it!

Derek founded the leading dating site for dog lovers www.doglover.biz in June 2006, inspired by his lifelong love of dogs and the need for dog lovers to share their passion with others like them.
